Our country home has a wonderful view of Stony Creek, woods and pastures. The entire property is fenced and the yard has many trees. Stoney Creek runs through the back 1/3 of the property. There is a foot bridge across the creek for access to both sides of the creek, and it is a great place to sit and put on ice skates in the winter or to watch the little fish in the creek in the summer. Wildlife (deer, herons, ducks, etc) sightings are common. The children have always loved the above ground...

pool, installed in 1999- 24 ft. round pool with decking around half the pool and a fence for saftey. I installed a new pool liner in 2006. The pool is easily accessed from the dining room doorwalls. There is a wooden play structure for children that can be easily seen from the kitchen window. My wife has created multiple, beautiful large perennial gardens. We also have a very fertile vegetable garden (36x32) surrounded with a white picket fence. We also have a Passive solar greenhouse (8x26) with raised beds that has allowed us to pick tomatoes for Thanksgiving dinner. All of the gardens are organic.
One of the features of our property that we like best is our barn. It is a two story, 26 X 48 ft. ,steel sided, gambrel roof pole barn built in 1998 that has water and electric. One side of the barn is set up for a 2 car+ garage with a cement floor. The other side is set up for animals, with 3 stalls and a feed room. The entire upstairs of the barn is used for storage, and we store hay in one half. We access the hay area by hay mow doors over the garage doors. Horses and other livestock are allowed. There are several other horses in the neighborhood, including a riding arena less than 0.5 miles up Townsend Road. There is fencing in place for livestock or horses and chickens. Out buildings include one shed 10 x 10 1/2 ft. with a cement floor and an attic for storage, a 8x12 ft. storage or animal barn and a shed 7 1/2 x 12 ft. with a cement floor that is currently used for chickens.
The house was small when we bought it so we added on 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and a basement in 1993. We also installed a new furnace and septic system in 1993. The furnace is maintained professionally, and we are very diligent to maintain the septic system as well. We had a new 115 ft. deep well dug in 1995, which provides all the water we would ever want.
There is a first floor laundry room off of the kitchen/dining room. The kitchen and dining room feel spacious due to all of the windows (3 doorwalls) and the cathedral ceilings. The living room is very light and spacious with the cathedral ceilings and high windows. There is a natural (woodburing/Heatilator) fireplace in the living room. Natural gas runs the hot water heat furnace and the high efficiency water heater. A new furnace draft motor was installed November 2006. The hot water heater was installed new in 1998.
There are ceiling fans in 2 of the main floor bedrooms, in the living room and the kitchen. We will include 2 window air conditioners with the house, that we have used 3 times in the 15 years we have lived in the house. The house is surrounded by trees and does not get that hot in the summer. The third downstairs bedroom has an adjacent full bathroom and a very large closet (4x16ft). This bedroom has served as a grandparents residence. The upstairs bedroom also has an adjacent full bath and is very private. The master bedroom has two large closets.
Our home has been a great place to raise our children in the country. They have loved the space to play, raise animals, ride go-karts etc. We are 0.7 miles east of Rochester Road, 9 miles north of Rochester, 7 miles west of Romeo and 7 miles east of Oxford. We are about 2 miles from Lakeville Lake. Addison township values country living and the neighboring properties also have large yards (2.5 acres) and are very beautiful. We are sure you will love living here as much as we have. |
